The 2012 World Series of Poker schedule has been released and included some significant changes.
This year’s WSOP will feature a total of 61 events, running from May 27th to July 16th. There have been rumors of a possible venue change over the last few years, the Series will remain at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. An additional 92 poker tables will be put in play in 2012, with the Brasilia Ballroom.
There have been lots of other changes made for the 2012 schedule:
The WSOP Main Event final table will be delayed, just not as long. This year the final table will play out one week earlier than in previous years. The U.S. Presidential Election slated for the first Tuesday in November, the WSOP Main Event final table will be held in two stages, from nine players playing down to two on Sunday, October 28th, and then heads up play will resume on Tuesday, October 30th.
Instead of four starting days there are now only three, days 1A, 1B and 1C. Players from 1A and 1B will play their day two on Tuesday, the 10th of July. Day 1C players play their day two on Wednesday, the 11th of July, and all fields will combine the following day. In 2011 there was a day off following the completion of day 2A and 2B. In 2012 this day-off has been eliminated.
Therefore due to all of these changes for the above mentioned reason we will no long have a November 9 but it will be a October 9, not as catchy but the players that make it down to the final 9 will not be complaining either way!
